Choice of Colour or Capability

All eyes are on the Conservative Party leadership bid at present. Who will be the next prime minister?

Rishi Sunak or Liz Truss. If Rishi becomes the prime minister, then he will be the first non-white- the ethnic minority in the white majority nation of Britain. If Liz becomes the prime minister, then she will be the first and third woman prime minister. Both will create history- challenging the main opposition Labour Party, which has not accepted such diversity so far.

But we are waiting to see this result beyond this history. We are waiting to join the Conservative Party-not one or two people but in hundreds and thousands in number. If the Conservative Party, which people perceive as anti-immigrant, illiberal and slanting to the far right, elects Rishi, then the game is over for the next election. The Labour Party will not be able to save its members- at least the majority of BAME members will desert the party. This will exemplify to the world that Britain is a country of real multiplicity and tolerance and the Tories are the party to lead this acceptance among the general public. This would be like the election of Barack Obama in the USA.

This is not only the question of colour here. Comparing the character and qualities of the two candidates from the perspectives of the MPs and ministers and civil servants and economists and analysts, who worked with Rishi, who knew Rishi and who studied the needs of the country, say explicitly Rishi is the need of the country to resolve the difficulties including the cost of living crisis, curtailing the inflation and illegal migration. Rishi is needed to ‘restore trust, rebuild the economy and reunite the country.’

His vision, his experience and his moral values are exceptional. He saved tens of thousands of jobs during the pandemic. He did not pump money into the banks like Gordon Brown did during the last financial crisis, which ended in the bonuses of greedy executives. However, Rishi gave money to the working people, saved their jobs and saved the British economy. This will have a direct impact during the election. Rishi will get the support of working-class people, it does not matter, he is a millionaire. He cares. He is compassionate. He has values. Those who have studied the Bhagavad Gita, which he chose to take the oath of office, will never ever be egoistic, full of anger and greed and insensitive to the poorest of the poor. We have to develop a culture of work, encourage entrepreneurship and develop skills to move the economy. Short-term populist tax cut rhetoric is rubbish.

We need a man of vision, we need a man of creative ideas and we need an intelligent man who can lead the nation and take it to a new height. He has these characters and qualities and leadership ability. Let’s rise above colour, let’s rise above culture and let’s rise above personal likes and dislikes and elect the best candidate to lead our great nation. Rishi is the best candidate to lead. Only Rishi can defeat the Labour in the next election.

We are waiting for the decision of the Conservative Party members across the country, whether you can rise above colour or not, whether you can rise above your imperial mentality or not and whether you are capable of electing the right man at the right time.

We do not want to listen to the popular rhetoric but reality. Rishi represents present day reality. We need to develop the culture of ambition and aspiration like Rishi’s and his parents. Everyone has the opportunity and should work hard like his parents did for their children’s future. We need that vision. We need a leader who translates that vision into action and instills ambition in our future generation.

Everyone is watching the decision of the Conservative Party members, not only in the UK but across the globe. What type of country you want to see, so take your decision wisely.
